Greg Tarnacki is the CEO and Founder of 18Loop, a 501(c)(3) GuideStar Platinum nonprofit that deploys Virtual Reality (VR) in order to help pediatric oncology patients create, learn and grow in the metaverse. 18Loop is a Fast Company Honorable Mention World Changing Idea 2021. Greg is focused on public service, especially where technology can be leveraged for the greater good.

Greg spent almost 20 years in technology sales working on network infrastructure, business intelligence, cloud and IT consulting initiatives with clients like ABN Amro, Bloomberg, Bristol Myers Squibb, CBS, Ernst and Young, Goldman Sachs and the New York Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC). 


After his last role in private sector technology sales, Greg joined Americorps. In Americorps, he served a volunteer year helping Opportunity Youth in Newark, NJ prepare for college and careers in its ServiceWorks program. This service was the catalyst for founding a nonprofit. 18Loop is the culmination of all Greg has learned about the technology sector and service to the community.

Greg earned a Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from Seton Hall University, and holds certificates from MIT (Artificial Intelligence) and Oxford (Blockchain). He is a Board Advisor for the Novick Cardiac Alliance. Currently, he is enrolled in the EMBA/MS Healthcare Leadership program at Cornell University. Greg is a HIMSS-NJ and SIOP member and lives and works in Rutherford, NJ. He is HIPAA certified.

Roles & Responsibilities

2017 - Present

Founder and CEO at 18Loop

18Loop is a 501c3 nonprofit that deploys Virtual Reality (VR) to kids with cancer to provide a better recovery by improving their education through VR immersion. Our focus is on research  and advocacy.

2016 - 2017

Program Coordinator at AmeriCorps

In this position I recruited and trained over 50  volunteer mentors and facilitators while guiding 13% of youth program participants toward college attendance or career advancement.

2012 - 2014

Senior Account Executive at Verizon

Led account team including inside sales, consultants, and partners to present healthcare, telecom and cloud strategy to CIO audiences achieving an overall annual sales volume of $30M. 

2023 - Present

Board Advisor at Novick Cardiac Alliance

Work with the Dr. Novick and team to bring VR solutions to his diverse patient base. Areas of focus are pain aversion and mood support. The Novice Cardiac Alliance is currently in an initial testing phase with VR.

Educational Background

Cornell University

I am enrolled in the dual degree MBA/MS program for Healthcare Leadership. I am focusing on technology innovation with an emphasis on business management and understanding the regulatory environment. I will attend the Johnson School of Business and Weill Cornell Medicine.

Seton Hall University

Studied the three subcategories of Artificial Intelligence (AI): machine learning, natural language processing (NLP) and robotics. I learned how to apply AI methodologies to business cases that are relevant to my organization and built case studies on them.

MIT Sloan School of Management 

Studied the three subcategories of Artificial Intelligence (AI): machine learning, natural language processing (NLP) and robotics. I learned how to apply AI methodologies to business cases that are relevant to my organization and built case studies on them.

University of Oxford - Said Business School

Studied Blockchain and learned about cryptology and its application to the immutable ledger with no intermediaries. Developed originally for Bitcoin, blockchain with be a critical technology that continues to evolve as a platform for digital currency, contracts and custody of goods.
